Does the clock matter? Every entry time, tested

Hundreds of the surveyed videos teach a time: the 09:30 New York open, the 03:00 London open, 08:30 news, the 10:00 Silver Bullet, the Asian session, "the 6:30 strategy". Here every entry time of the day was tested on its own — buy or sell at that exact New York time and hold 1–8 hours (15 minutes–4 hours on 5-minute data) — after spread and commission. Green = it made money, on the first 70% of the history (left number) and on the later 30% it never saw (right number).

Average result per trade, in ATR (earlier data → later data; bold = strong on both)

ATR = the average bar range, so 0.10 means a tenth of a typical bar's range per trade after costs. Times are New York (EST/EDT); India time is 9½–10½ hours later.

The times named in videos — best rule found for each

Each time was tried with buy, sell, follow the last bar, and fade the last bar, several hold times and stops. The rule was picked on the earlier data; the later data shows if it held up. Click a row to open it on the Strategies tab.

The best strategy found (profitable in 2016–23 and 2023–26). Buys at the 18:00 New York reopen (Mon–Thu), stop-loss 5× hourly ATR, exits after ~9 hours. Uses PAXG (a gold-backed token) prices as the live gold feed.

History

What was researched

1,677 YouTube videos about gold, US30 and NAS100 strategies were collected from 146 searches (374 million views). The transcripts of the most-viewed videos with real rules were read, and about 40 Instagram reels were checked. Every strategy with clear rules was coded exactly and backtested on gold (10 years hourly, 2 years of 1- and 5-minute data), NAS100 and US30 (10 years hourly, 2 years of minute data), with real spreads, commission, overnight fees and broker minimum sizes. Settings were chosen on the first 70% of each history and judged on the last 30%.

Win-rate claims in titles

About 80–90% win rates and 30–40% a month

Win rates of 70–92% are real for strategies with a small target and a wide stop (NAS100's RSI(2) setup won 91% of over 1,000 trades in 10 years) — and they ended roughly break-even after costs. No strategy, market or risk level reached 30–40% a month in the tests; getting close required 20%+ risk per trade, where most simulated accounts halved within a year. Use the Goal check on the Strategies tab to see the numbers for any strategy.

Bots on the XM demo account

Only demo logins are traded: the server checks MetaTrader's account type before every order and refuses a real account.

How to connect (once)

  1. Open MetaTrader 5 on this PC (it is installed). File → Login to Trade Account, choose an XMGlobal-MT5 Demo server and log in with your XM demo login. You type the password into MetaTrader yourself; this app never sees it.
  2. In MetaTrader: Tools → Options → Expert Advisors → Allow algorithmic trading, and turn on the Algo Trading button.
  3. Start the Ledger server on the same PC: .venv\Scripts\python run.py in the ledger-terminal folder.
  4. Open http://127.0.0.1:3002/app/ (this same app, served by your PC) and go to this tab; it connects by itself. From the GitHub Pages address, press CONNECT and allow "local network access" if Chrome asks. Nothing about your account goes to GitHub.
  5. Turn on the xm-gold-asia-drift bot. It trades gold (XM symbol GOLD) at 1% risk while the server and MetaTrader are running.

Later, the same setup can run on a Windows VPS so it trades 24/5 without your PC. Keep it on demo until months of demo results match the backtest.
